In May 2020, I opened an Etsy shop and started selling head wraps. I had gotten laid off from my 9-5 due to COVID-19 and a decrease in sales at the office. Although, financially I’ve held up well throughout the remainder of 2020—emotionally—-not having a job took a toll on my already shaky mental health. When you have 10 hours added back into your schedule, you have to figure out what else to do with that time, besides overthink and stress (LOL — funny, but not funny). Because I have a history with making stuff, I thought “this could be easy and fun”. Fortunately, I sold a few of the styles I’ve made and I still have some available! Head wraps are important in African spirituality because it’s said to protect your mind from negative energy and clutter so you can think clearly. Why not be cute & conscious at the same time, right?
